On my spare time I enjoy creating videos documenting my natural hair journey and although I did not get the Big Chop just as yet, I plan on doing so in the Spring of 2012.

Hair Accessories

Over the summer I picked up a new hobby, which was creating hair accessories. Although I was a newbie at creating hair accessories my creativity began to excel as I continued to create more and more. A life lesson that I learned while creating these accessories is that even if something does not seem to come out the way you would expect in the beginning continue to practice and your abilities will surpass your expectations.

Natural Hair Journey

As an individual who is transitioning from relaxed to natural, I realized that there is not much information pertaining to caring for your hair while they have two different textures. While transitioning, I noticed that many females usually opt to the Big Chop, but many of us know that the BC can be very emotional as well as life changing. I personally prefer to wait until Spring 2012 to do my BC mainly because during these long winter months it can get pretty cold so I would rather wait until it gets a bit warmer to take that next step in my Natural Hair Journey. In the meantime, during the transitioning process with my relaxed/natural hair my goal is to combat the idea that your hair falls off if you stop getting a perm as well as learning various hair styles that can keep my hair protected without using heat or weaves. Although I have nothing against weaves or hairstyles containing heat, my personal goal is to use hairstyles without them, since they create a great deal of breakage, especially when not done properly. I also plan on becoming informed on how to get the most out of the transitioning process so that others can get a better understanding on how they can transition as well without incurring a lot of breakage.
